“I missed my customers, I missed the people I had close connections with and I missed my routine,” Ramirez said. She officially came back to the newspaper February of this year. Ramirez began her career with our newspaper in July of 2008 until her departure in August of 2020 during COVID-19 layoffs. While Reyna takes charge of articles, our Multimedia Sales Executive, Nancy Ramirez’s specialty consists of selling digital and print advertisements. Tasked with covering local events, conducting interviews and staying attuned to the pulse of the neighborhood, reporters like Reyna sift through information to distill the most relevant and impactful stories to the community. “I’ve had a pleasant time at the Alice Echo-News Journal these past 10 months and can’t wait to see what else is in store for me during my time here.” “I truly enjoyed my two months working with Melissa Trevino and reached out to her last fall because I was interested in obtaining an actual position here after graduation,” she said. However, we were first introduced to her during the summer of 2022, when she completed a summer internship with the Alice Echo. Reyna’s journalism career began this past January, a month after she graduated from Texas A&M University – Kingsville with a bachelor’s degree in communication journalism. Senior Reporter, Sarah Reyna handles all of the editorial work for the paper’s weekly issues. By Staff every printed issue, article and advertisement purchased is the hard work of the women keeping the Alice Echo-News Journal afloat.
